System ID's

System ID’s are used to identify aircraft apart from one another.

All aircraft on a mesh should have a unique system ID and these are set when pairing the aircraft to the GCS.

Assigning System IDs

When pairing an aircraft to a Ground Control Station, the user will be prompted to choose a system ID to assign to the aircraft. The pairing manager will not allow the user to pair a new aircraft to the mesh with a system ID of another aircraft that is connected to the mesh at the time of pairing. If the user chooses a system ID that conflicts with another aircraft that is turned off they will receive a warning asking if they want to go ahead. If the user confirms to continue the other aircraft will lose its assigned system id and will have to be paired with the GCS next time it is powered on. If an aircraft with the same system ID is turned on at the time of pairing the user will not be allowed to choose that system ID.

On the Aircraft

Internally on the aircraft all devices use system ID 1. Any messages received by the aircraft that are targeted at it’s system ID or all ID’s will be translated to target system ID 1 on entry. If the messages are targeted at a different system id that is not the aircraft, the messages will be dropped. All messages leaving the aircraft will have their system ID translated to the assigned ID.
